The University of Pennsylvania baseball team achieved a doubleheader sweep against Lafayette at Kamine Stadium in Easton, Pennsylvania. The Quakers secured a 9-7 victory in Game 1 and followed it with a 7-6 win in Game 2, marking their first series sweep of the 2025 season.
Penn's overall record improved to 4-9 as they extended their winning streak to three games, while Lafayette fell to 2-16. In Game 1, Penn managed to stave off a late comeback by Lafayette. Gavin Degnan led the offensive effort for Penn, batting .500 with a home run and a double. Davis Baker, Qwynn Ahearn, and Jarrett Pokrovsky each contributed significantly by hitting .375 during the doubleheader.
"Nick Spaventa also homered and made the game-saving catch in foul territory in the bottom of the eighth inning to seal the win and the series," according to Penn's recap.
In Game 2, Penn overcame a deficit to secure victory in eight innings due to darkness. Josh Katz earned his first win of the year with four strikeouts over four innings. John Cerwinski recorded his second save of the weekend.
The Quakers' next game is scheduled against Lehigh on Wednesday at J. David Walker Field at Legacy Park.
