The Philadelphia Flyers suffered a 5-0 defeat against the Carolina Hurricanes at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday evening. This game marked the end of a seven-game homestand for the Flyers, who recorded a 1-6-0 record during this stretch.

The Hurricanes took control early, with four shots on goal in the first four minutes. A high-sticking penalty against Cam York was overturned after review, allowing play to continue at even strength. The Flyers then managed four consecutive shots before Carolina's Sebastian Aho scored at 12:31, assisted by Jackson Blake and Seth Jarvis. The Flyers' challenge for goaltender interference was unsuccessful, resulting in a delay of game penalty served by Matvei Michkov.

Despite opportunities, including a shorthanded 2-on-1 chance for Ryan Poehling and Travis Konecny, the Flyers couldn't capitalize. Eric Robinson set up Mark Jankowski for Carolina's second goal at 15:46. Pyotr Kochetkov made key saves to maintain the Hurricanes' lead.

In the second period, Taylor Hall extended Carolina's lead to 3-0 with a power-play goal just nine seconds into the period. Assists were credited to Aho and Shayne Gostisbehere. Although Logan Stankoven's goal was overturned due to an offside entry, Jankowski later scored his second goal of the game at 13:15.

Philadelphia had chances but failed to score during their power play following a roughing minor against Jankowski. Owen Tippett briefly left the ice after being hit by a puck but returned for the third period.

Carolina's Scott Morrow added a fifth goal with just over half a minute remaining in regulation time. In total, Samuel Ersson made 26 saves on 31 shots for Philadelphia, while Kochetkov stopped all 26 shots he faced from the Flyers.

The Flyers struggled on special teams throughout their homestand, going 0-for-2 on power plays in this game and finishing with an overall penalty kill success rate of just 64.7 percent.

Sean Couturier led faceoff wins for Philadelphia in the first period (3-for-4), while Nick Seeler and Cam York contributed defensively with multiple blocked shots each.
