Philadelphia Union II has announced the signing of Venezuelan defender Rafael Uzcátegui to an MLS NEXT Pro contract. The 20-year-old will join the team's active roster once his International Transfer Certificate and P1 Visa are secured.

"Rafael is a promising young defender who brings valuable experience and leadership to our backline," said Ryan Richter, Philadelphia Union II Head Coach. "He has a demonstrated ability to read the game and anticipate plays, and we look forward to getting him integrated into the team quickly."

Uzcátegui comes from Colombia's Liga BetPlay Dimayor, where he played 25 matches for Boyacá Chicó FC. He also participated in five Copa Colombia games, scoring in the Round of 16 against Rionegro Águilas. Prior to his stint in Colombia, he made 37 appearances for Mineros de Guayana in Venezuela's Liga FUTVE after progressing through their U20 ranks in 2022. Internationally, he has represented Venezuela at both U20 and U23 levels with a total of 14 caps.

The transaction was completed on March 14, 2025.
