Travis Sanheim, a defenseman for the Philadelphia Flyers, documented his experiences throughout the 4 Nations Face-Off in a blog. The tournament concluded with Canada securing a 3-2 overtime victory against the United States at TD Garden.

In his final blog entry, Sanheim reflected on the excitement of winning and highlighted Connor McDavid's decisive goal at 8:18 of overtime. He also praised goalie Jordan Binnington's crucial performance at the start of overtime. Sanheim expressed gratitude for being part of such a memorable event, describing it as "something so special" to represent his country and achieve victory in such dramatic fashion.

Sanheim recounted witnessing McDavid's game-winning goal unfold, noting Mitch Marner's assist from the corner that set up McDavid's uncontested shot from the slot. "Obviously a pretty great player, in a big moment, and he comes up clutch," Sanheim remarked about McDavid.

He acknowledged both teams' defensive efforts during the game and credited Binnington as "the game-saver" for making multiple key saves. After securing victory, Sanheim described an overwhelming sense of achievement shared among teammates during their locker room celebration.

Reflecting on two intense games against Team USA, Sanheim emphasized the competitiveness and physicality that characterized each match. He appreciated fans' support and enthusiasm for these closely contested encounters.

Looking ahead to returning to NHL play with the Flyers hosting the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, Sanheim noted how players will transition back to competing against or alongside each other. He expressed admiration for representing Canada but acknowledged upcoming challenges in league play.

Following McDavid in the handshake line was another memorable moment for Sanheim; however, he humorously pondered whether he'd be ready to defend against him in their next meeting on ice.
