The Philadelphia Eagles have announced a trade agreement with the Houston Texans. This deal involves sending safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson and a 2026 sixth-round pick to Houston in exchange for offensive lineman Kenyon Green and a 2025 fifth-round pick.
C.J. Gardner-Johnson, known for his defensive skills, tied his career high with six interceptions during the past season, contributing significantly to the Eagles' Super Bowl victory. His performance included an interception return for a touchdown against Dallas, which secured the NFC East title for Philadelphia.
Eagles Insider Dave Spadaro provided insights into the team's free agency decisions, explaining the rationale behind acquiring Kenyon Green. Green was selected as the 15th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft from Texas A&M and will be entering his fourth NFL season. At 6-foot-4 and weighing 325 pounds, Green will celebrate his 24th birthday on March 15.
Hailing from Humble, Texas, Kenyon Green achieved first-team AP All-America honors in his final college season at Texas A&M. He was also named Offensive MVP and received the Aggies' Leadership Award. During his college career, he played four of five offensive line positions.
In his rookie year with the Texans in 2022, Green started 14 games at left guard but missed all of 2023 due to injury. He returned to play in 2024 but faced another injury that sidelined him for five games.
