The Philadelphia Eagles have announced a trade agreement with the Cleveland Browns, involving quarterbacks Kenny Pickett and Dorian Thompson-Robinson. The Eagles will send Pickett to the Browns in exchange for Thompson-Robinson and a 2025 fifth-round draft pick, originally from the Detroit Lions.
Kenny Pickett, who joined the Eagles last offseason from the Pittsburgh Steelers, served as a backup quarterback during the team's 2024 Super Bowl season. In his time with the Eagles, Pickett completed 25 of 42 passes for 291 yards and two touchdowns. His performance included a notable Week 17 start that secured an NFC East-clinching victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni praised Pickett's professionalism and commitment to improvement: "Just very professional, wanting to learn new things and continuing to grow his game. I just think he's been great for the room and a great addition to the room," said Sirianni before Pickett's first start as an Eagle. "I just feel like he's treated it from day one as, how does he get better every day? Not worrying about the circumstances that he's in, but how does he get better every day? I've seen improvement from the moment he stepped in here."
Dorian Thompson-Robinson was drafted by the Browns in 2023 as a fifth-round pick. Over two seasons with Cleveland, he started five games and completed 121 of 230 passes for 880 yards and one touchdown while also rushing for 187 yards on 35 carries.
During his collegiate career at UCLA, Thompson-Robinson set several records including being UCLA's all-time leader in total offense (12,536 yards), completions (860), total touchdowns (116), touchdown passes (88), and passing yards (10,710). In his final college season in 2022, he ranked sixth nationally in completion percentage (.696) and was among only two FBS quarterbacks to achieve at least 27 touchdown passes alongside adding 12 rushing touchdowns.
