With just three games remaining in the 2024-25 season, the Philadelphia Flyers, under interim head coach Brad Shaw, are set to face off against the Ottawa Senators. The game will take place in Ottawa on Sunday afternoon. The Flyers have been eliminated from playoff contention, whereas the Senators have already secured a wildcard spot and are likely to play against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the upcoming quarterfinals of the Eastern Conference.

The Flyers, currently with a record of 33-37-9, have recorded a 5-1-0 record under Shaw's leadership. Meanwhile, Ottawa, with a record of 43-30-6, has been consistent in their recent performances with a 6-3-1 tally over their last ten games.

In recent developments, Flyers winger Tyson Foerster has shown remarkable form, having scored five goals in his last two games. He has increased his season tally to 24 goals and 41 points from a previously recorded 16 goals and 32 points.

The Flyers' speed line, consisting of Ryan Poehling, Jakob Pelletier, and Owen Tippett, has shown fruitful coordination since being formed. Poehling is on a five-game point streak, and Tippett finally reached the 20-goal milestone for the third consecutive season.

In goalkeeping news, rookie Aleksei Kolosov will replace Samuel Ersson against Ottawa. Kolosov had been instrumental in their previous win over the New York Rangers. Ivan Fedotov, who last played on March 31 against the Nashville Predators, offers another option for the Flyers.

As the season winds down, Matvei Michkov, the Flyers' prominent rookie, is vying for records. Currently tied with Peter Zezel for ninth on the Flyers' all-time rookie scoring leader list, Michkov could move as high as seventh in the standings with a productive final stretch.

An anticipated face during the match will be Claude Giroux, the former Flyer and now Senator. Giroux has consistently scored against his previous team and is approaching another milestone season in his career.

The Flyers hope to conclude their challenging season with strong performances against formidable opponents.
