Philadelphia Union has unveiled the NEXGEN League, a youth soccer league that aims to prioritize player and club development. The league is designed as a member club-driven initiative, providing clubs a role in shaping its structure and direction.
The NEXGEN League promotes collaboration and coaching education, aiming to provide opportunities across all levels of play. "Year-Round League Schedule – Providing consistent, high-quality competition," the league promises.
Unique features of the league include multiple levels of play: elite, competitive, and developmental pathways designed to match player needs. A pilot program for U8 to U12 boys and girls is also part of the launch, preparing a strong foundation for future growth. As a club-centric model, it allows clubs to collaborate in making league decisions for optimal player and club development.
