The University of Pennsylvania's baseball team achieved a doubleheader sweep against Princeton, winning 2-1 and 7-5 at Tommy Lasorda Field at Meiklejohn Stadium on Friday. These victories even Penn's record at 12-12 overall and improve their Ivy League standing to 6-2. Princeton's record shifts to 7-21 overall and 4-4 in league play.

Following Columbia's split with Cornell on the same day, Penn and Columbia are now tied for first place in the Ivy League standings. Both teams have been competing for the league's regular-season title over the past three years.

Gavin Collins, Jarrett Pokrovsky, and Nick Spaventa played key roles in the first game, each recording two hits, while Davis Baker and Pokrovsky drove in the runs necessary for Penn's win. "Noah Millikan didn't get the win in his start, but struck out six batters, allowing one run on two hits in 5.2 innings," which set the stage for Marty Coyne to get the victory with 3.1 shutout innings.

In the second game, Ryan Taylor, Baker, and Gavin Degnan contributed offensively, supported by solid performances from Spaventa and Pokrovsky, who both batted .571 over the two games. Josh Katz limited Princeton to three runs over five innings, while Tommy Delany and Thomas Shurtleff provided strong relief to secure the win. Shurtleff's performance lowered his ERA to 0.60.

Penn will aim for a series sweep in the final game against Princeton on Saturday. The event will be available for streaming on ESPN+ with live stats online.
