The University of Pennsylvania baseball team secured its seventh consecutive victory by defeating Harvard 14-4 at Tommy Lasorda Field in Meiklejohn Stadium on Sunday. The Quakers, now 8-9 overall and 3-0 in Ivy League play, completed a series sweep over the Crimson, who remain winless at 0-16 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
"Penn opens Ivy play with a series sweep for the second consecutive season," noted Penn's report. This streak is reminiscent of last year's sweep against Brown.
The current seven-game winning streak is the longest for the Quakers since their ten-game run from April to June 2023. During that period, they advanced through the Ivy League Tournament and into the NCAA regional finals.
In Sunday's game, Jarrett Pokrovsky led Penn's offense by going four-for-four at bat, scoring three runs and contributing an RBI. "Pokrovsky had elite offensive numbers in Penn's three wins over Harvard," stated Penn Athletics.
Gavin Collins added to the scoreline with two hits and three RBIs while Ryan Taylor drove in two runs during his three-hit performance. Josh Katz earned his second win of the season after allowing just one run on one hit over two innings.
Penn scored first but trailed briefly before taking control in the third inning with five runs. They extended their lead further with five more runs in the seventh inning and concluded their scoring with three additional runs in the eighth.
Next up for Penn is a match against Saint Joseph's at Tommy Lasorda Field as part of Liberty Bell Classic play. The game will be available for viewing on ESPN+.
