Philadelphia Union II has officially signed defender Ramzi Qawasmy to an MLS NEXT Pro contract, integrating him into the active roster. The 25-year-old returns to the Union system, having started his career at the Union Academy.
"Ramzi is a strong, composed defender who brings experience and leadership to our back line," stated Ryan Richter, Head Coach of Philadelphia Union II. "His ability to read the game, organize the defense, and contribute in possession makes him a valuable addition, and we’re excited to have him back in our system."
Qawasmy's recent stint was with Atlanta United 2 in MLS NEXT Pro, where he played 18 regular-season matches in 2024. His career also includes time with Louisville City FC in 2023, West Chester United in 2022, and Reading United in 2021.
He began his youth soccer journey with FC Delco before joining the Union Academy in 2017. At Providence College from 2018-2022, he made significant contributions with 88 starts and seven goals.
Beyond playing for Union II, Qawasmy will coach at The SWAG program. This initiative offers free soccer training for young athletes aged four through nine from under-resourced communities in Philadelphia.
Transaction details indicate that Qawasmy was signed on March 7, 2025.
