The University of Pennsylvania baseball team has already secured its first weekly accolade just three games into the season. Freshman right-handed pitcher Sebastian Haggard was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Haggard made a notable debut in Penn's 5-3 loss to No. 9 Florida State on Saturday. He delivered 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing only one hit and striking out three batters.

His performance was instrumental in stabilizing the bullpen, which prevented further runs from the Seminoles over the last four innings, enabling Penn to attempt a comeback after trailing 5-0.

Penn will continue their southern tour this weekend with a series against another top-ranked team, No. 21 Troy. The series kicks off on Friday at 5 p.m. ET.
