Philadelphia Union secures funds through player priority exchange with San Diego FC

Philadelphia Union has announced a deal with San Diego FC involving the transfer of General Allocation Money (GAM). The club will receive $50,000 in 2025 GAM from San Diego FC. This transaction is in exchange for the Homegrown Priority over Anisse Saidi, a forward from the Union Academy. Furthermore, Philadelphia Union is set to acquire an additional $50,000 in 2026 GAM contingent upon San Diego signing Saidi to a Homegrown contract.

The agreement also includes future trade and sell-on percentages. There is potential for Philadelphia Union to gain up to an extra $250,000 in GAM if certain performance metrics are achieved.

Philadelphia Union's 2025 Major League Soccer season commences against Orlando City SC at Inter & Co Stadium on Saturday, February 22 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The match will be available on Apple TV.

"TRANSACTION: Philadelphia Union acquire guaranteed $50,000 in 2025 GAM, a future trade percentage, a future sell-on percentage, and up to an additional $250,000 in GAM if certain performance metrics are met," according to the announcement. "Philadelphia Union also acquire guaranteed $50,000 in 2026 GAM for San Diego’s signing of Saidi to a Homegrown deal."
