The Philadelphia Eagles will face the New York Giants on Sunday, January 5, at 1 PM. The NFL announced the schedule late Sunday night. This NFC East matchup will be broadcast on CBS and SportsRadio 94WIP.
The Eagles have secured their position as NFC East Champions with a 13-3 record and hold the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs after defeating the Dallas Cowboys 41-7 at Lincoln Financial Field. Running back Saquon Barkley set a franchise record for most scrimmage yards in a season (2,283) and became only the ninth player in NFL history to surpass 2,000 rushing yards in a single season. He achieved this milestone by gaining 167 yards against Dallas, primarily during the second half of the game.
Barkley is now just 101 yards away from becoming the NFL's all-time single-season rushing leader. The Giants, who are tied with three other teams for the No. 1 overall draft pick with a record of 3-13, recently defeated the Colts 45-33.
"The way I look at it, if it's in God's plan, then it is," Barkley commented after their win against Dallas. "I'm not overly trying to go get it... I came here to do something special."
Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni has yet to decide how he will approach Week 18 now that their playoff seed is secured. At his postgame press conference, Sirianni expressed his intention to wait until more games were completed before making any decisions about resting players or pursuing further records.
"There's a lot that goes into it," Sirianni said. "We'll watch some games tonight... Always got to do what's right for the football team."
Sirianni plans to address these issues again when he meets with media representatives on Monday afternoon.
