Jalen Carter continued to demonstrate his formidable skills in the Eagles' recent 24-19 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. The defensive tackle, now in his second year, contributed significantly with four total tackles, three for a loss, two quarterback hits, and a crucial sack on Lamar Jackson.
Carter's influence extended beyond his individual performance. His presence required the Ravens' offense to double-team him on 25 of his 43 pass rush attempts. This strategy opened opportunities for teammates like Zack Baun, Nolan Smith, and rookie Jalyx Hunt to make significant plays.
"You see that I didn't do it by myself. You see JD (Jordan Davis) made some big tackles for losses as well and Zack made some big plays," Carter stated from the visitors' locker room at M&T Bank Stadium. "It was all a team effort."
Throughout the season, Carter has emphasized the importance of teamwork, likening himself to offensive standout Saquon Barkley in this regard. He acknowledged Milton Williams' role in helping him achieve a key sack against Jackson during Sunday's game.
"All sacks are big, but thanks to my boy Milt (Milton Williams). Last week, you all can say I helped him get his, but this time, he helped me get that sack," Carter remarked.
Carter's sack came at a pivotal moment when the Ravens were advancing toward the end zone late in the first half. His successful tackle resulted in a loss of 13 yards for Baltimore and maintained Philadelphia's lead going into halftime.
Reflecting on bringing down Jackson, Carter said: "Just tackle him. I have the mindset that nobody can outdo me...I got my one opportunity and I was able to bring him down."
Carter participated in nearly every defensive snap during Sunday's match—71 out of 72—and has been consistently present throughout the season with an impressive 83 percent participation rate.
"I think If 52 out of 54 [snaps], that tells you they have our conditioning levels right and we've been working hard," he commented following a previous game against Jacksonville.
Even near game's end against Baltimore, Carter was actively contributing by supporting Tristin McCollum's tackle with less than 30 seconds remaining.
"I still have a lot to learn," Carter admitted regarding his ongoing development in professional football.
