The football world took notice of a remarkable play on Sunday when cornerback Cooper DeJean executed a textbook tackle against Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry. The 198-pound DeJean managed to stop the 247-pound Henry, limiting him to a three-yard gain on a crucial third-and-11 play.

On Tuesday, the NFL recognized DeJean's efforts with a personalized email commending his performance. "Dear Cooper," it began, acknowledging the importance of every play in football and congratulating him for being named the NFL Way to Play Award recipient for Week 13. The award highlights players who exemplify proper playing techniques, and as part of this recognition, the NFL Foundation will grant $5,000 for equipment through USA Football to a youth or high school program chosen by DeJean.

Reflecting on his celebrated tackle, DeJean expressed surprise at his ability to lift Henry off the ground. "I didn't really expect to pick him up like that," he admitted while reviewing footage with the Philadelphia Eagles' Social Media team. Despite feeling some impact from tackling such a formidable opponent, he attributed his success to adrenaline and strategic positioning.

Sheldon Brown, former Eagles cornerback known for his memorable hit on Reggie Bush during the 2006 playoffs, acknowledged DeJean's accomplishment. "It's just toughness," Brown commented. He appreciated the physicality and technique displayed by DeJean in making what he described as "a perfect tackle."

Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio praised DeJean's technique during his press conference at NovaCare Complex. He emphasized that good form was integral to what has become one of the league’s top defenses—technically sound and physically dominant.

DeJean echoed these sentiments regarding physicality as an essential aspect of their defensive strategy. "We preach being the most physical team on the field every week," he stated, highlighting how rigorous practice contributes to their game-day performance.
