Vinny Curry set to retire as an Eagle after illustrious NFL career

Vinny Curry, a former defensive end for the Philadelphia Eagles, will retire as an Eagle on Thursday night. Curry was selected in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft and quickly rose through the ranks during his career.

In his second year with the team, Curry recorded 20 tackles and four sacks over 14 games. The following season, he achieved a career-high nine sacks and 12 solo tackles. During his sixth year in the league, Curry played a pivotal role in leading the Eagles' defense to their first Super Bowl victory. He contributed four tackles in that game and became known for rallying his teammates with the phrase "We all we got. We all we need," which became a team mantra.

Reflecting on that time, Curry said, "When that clock hit zero and the confetti came down, it was something that you think about... Everybody had one goal – the goal was to win a championship." He fondly remembered watching replays of the game with his son Noah.

Curry grew up in Neptune, New Jersey, as an Eagles fan and cherished playing eight seasons with them. "It meant everything to me," he said about wearing Midnight Green and winning a Super Bowl.

After six seasons with Philadelphia, Curry spent one year with Tampa Bay before returning to play two more seasons for the Eagles in 2019 and 2020. His final NFL season was with the Jets in 2022.

Throughout his tenure with Philadelphia, Curry registered significant stats: 222 QB pressures, 204 tackles, 35.5 tackles for loss, 30 sacks (ranking him 19th in franchise history), five forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries across 111 games.

On Thursday night at Lincoln Financial Field where it all began for him professionally as an Eagle; Vinny Curry will officially retire from football after being named Honorary Captain of that evening's match-up against another team yet-to-be-disclosed by officials earlier today."

"To be able to play 11 years in NFL is amazing," said Vinny regarding this milestone achievement while preparing himself mentally ahead retirement ceremony scheduled later week."
