The Philadelphia Flyers have outlined their plans for the upcoming Military Appreciation Game, presented by Toyota, scheduled for Veterans Day on November 11 at 7:00 p.m. The event is part of the team's ongoing commitment to honor active-duty service members and veterans from the Philadelphia area.
Defenseman Erik Johnson expressed the team's dedication to acknowledging military personnel, stating, "It’s always a privilege to give back to such important members of our community."
The game will feature a ceremonial puck drop with Veteran Combat Engineer and Flyers Warrior Sergeant Josh Chilcote and his service dog Turbo. SEAC John Wayne Troxell (Ret.) and Staff Sgt. Clinton Romesha (Ret.), both affiliated with Hiring Our Heroes and Toyota Ambassadors, will also participate.
Members of Task Force Paxton 2-112 Infantry returning from deployment in Africa will watch warmups from the bench. Tickets have been distributed to local military organizations through the Community Ticket Grant program.
Fans attending will receive a camouflage Flyers hat courtesy of Toyota. Military-themed merchandise will be available for purchase, with discounts offered to those with military ID. Specialty items include mystery pucks and jerseys, with proceeds supporting related charities.
In preparation for this event, several initiatives were undertaken by the Flyers organization:
On November 1, nearly 30 active-duty service members participated in a USO Skate event at a Flyers practice session. Participants received military-themed jerseys and tickets to the game.
On November 10, a special skate event with Challenged Athletes Foundation will occur at the Flyers Training Center. Attendees will join Flyers Alumni Bob Kelly and others on ice.
During Monday's game, Team Foster staff and volunteers will be present to promote their mission of providing service dogs to veterans. A table at the Wells Fargo Center concourse will offer educational information about their work.
Tickets for the Military Appreciation Game are currently available on PhiladelphiaFlyers.com.
