The Philadelphia Eagles have secured a promising addition to their roster by signing Clemson linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. The team traded up in the fifth round to select him, with Trotter Jr. set to don the No. 54 jersey, continuing his father's legacy.

Jeremiah Trotter Jr., one of the Eagles' fifth-round picks at No. 155 overall, has an impressive record. He is among three Power 5 players since 1996 who achieved over ten sacks, four interceptions, three forced fumbles, and two pick-sixes in a two-season span.

When asked about comparisons with his father, Trotter Jr. noted differences in their playing styles: "I'd probably say definitely the size and just how our body types are and how we play the game," he explained. He emphasized that while his father was known for aggressively engaging opponents at the line of scrimmage, he himself plays more dynamically across the field.

Pro Football Focus highlighted Trotter's skill in tackling with an average depth of tackle occurring just 2.42 yards from the line of scrimmage—one of the lowest figures among his peers this year.

In recognition of his talents, Trotter Jr. earned first-team All-ACC honors in 2023 after previously receiving honorable mention status. Additionally, he is a two-time second-team Associated Press All-American.

His coverage abilities are also noteworthy; opposing quarterbacks managed only a 70.2 passer rating when targeting him—a figure placing him in the top percentile among linebackers drafted over the past decade.

Born and raised near Philadelphia as the son of Eagles Hall of Fame linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Sr., Trotter Jr.'s local roots run deep. Reflecting on joining his hometown team, he expressed pride: "It definitely means a lot," he said about continuing his father's legacy with the Eagles organization and fans.

"I'm a hometown kid and the Eagles were always my favorite team growing up," he added enthusiastically about fulfilling his dream to play for them.
