Philadelphia County’s 725 coaches earned an average salary of $89,487 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the third highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Pennsylvania post-secondary schools during 2022.

Philadelphia County is home to nine post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Temple University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $285,501.

Male coaches of men's teams received $144,132 on average in Philadelphia County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $72,627.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
