The Philadelphia Eagles have reached an agreement with outside linebacker Patrick Johnson on a one-year contract for the 2025 offseason. The deal was finalized on Friday afternoon.

Johnson, originally drafted by the Eagles in the seventh round in 2021 from Tulane, has participated in 49 regular-season games and five playoff matches over his three-plus seasons with Philadelphia. During this period, he accumulated 20 tackles, including one for loss, along with three quarterback hits and 11 quarterback pressures. He also contributed significantly to special teams with 15 tackles.

In his second season, Johnson saw significant playing time on defense with 213 snaps (19 percent) and added another 16 defensive snaps during the playoffs as part of the NFC Champions team. In 2023, he tied for second place on the team for special teams tackles with six while playing a substantial number of special teams snaps.

Johnson's efforts to secure a roster spot in 2024 included forcing and recovering a fumble late in the fourth quarter against Baltimore, allowing kicker Jake Elliott to score a game-winning field goal. Although he initially made it onto the Eagles' 53-man roster, he was waived before Week 2 against Atlanta but was quickly claimed by their NFC East rivals, the New York Giants. With the Giants, Johnson became an essential part of their special teams unit across 12 games.
