After leading the Philadelphia Union to a significant victory over the weekend, Head Coach Bradley Carnell has been recognized with MLSSoccer.com's Coach of the Matchday award.
Carnell's leadership has propelled the Union to the top of the Eastern Conference, with impressive results including eight goals scored in two games. This output marks a record for the club in the first two matches of an MLS regular season.
The unbeaten start continued during the 2025 home opener, where Philadelphia Union defeated FC Cincinnati 4-1. Despite challenging weather conditions, the team's defensive intensity remained strong. Tai Baribo achieved his second hat trick for the Union in this match, bringing his total to five goals in two Major League Soccer games. Baribo scored early in the match by connecting with Kai Wagner’s cross and added another goal in the 30th minute after Dániel Gazdag set him up for an easy finish. The pair combined once more after halftime when Gazdag assisted Baribo at the back post for his third goal.
Next weekend, Philadelphia Union will face off against New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium. The game is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 PM ET on Saturday, March 8th and can be viewed on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV.
