The Philadelphia Union marked a significant milestone during their 2025 home opener against FC Cincinnati on Saturday night. Center back Jakob Glesnes made his 150th career MLS start, becoming the sixth player in the club's history to achieve this feat.
Glesnes joins an elite group of players, including Andre Blake, Alejandro Bedoya, Jack Elliott, Raymon Gaddis, and Kai Wagner, who have also reached this milestone with the Union.
Originally from Norway, Glesnes joined the Philadelphia Union in 2020 after playing in the Eliteserien, Norway's top-tier league. He captained Stromsgodset Toppfotball before moving to MLS. His tenure with the Union has been marked by memorable moments such as scoring a remarkable game-tying goal against Atlanta United FC in 2021 from 30 yards out and delivering a long-range game-winning goal during the first round of the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs against NYRB. This latter goal set records as both the latest game-winner in MLS Cup Playoffs history and the latest goal scored in any MLS competition.
