Temple's iNest hosts press conference to highlight investment in medical innovation

Pennsylvania State Senators Steve Santarsiero, Vincent Hughes, and Sharif Street were present at a recent press conference held at iNest, Temple University's innovation center on the Temple Health Sciences Campus. Also in attendance were Jen Gilburg, Deputy Secretary of Technology and Entrepreneurship for the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED); Josh Gladden, Vice President for Research at Temple University; Dr. Riyaz Bashir, Director of Vascular and Endovascular Medicine at Temple University Hospital; Marvin Woodall, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Thrombolex; and patient Irving Vaughn.

The event, which took place on February 24th, focused on recognizing a $750,000 grant from DCED as well as federal investment from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) towards the BASHIR Endovascular Catheter developed by Thrombolex. This catheter was invented by Dr. Bashir.
