The University of Pennsylvania baseball team is set to face No. 21 Troy in a three-game series at Riddle-Pace Field this weekend. This marks the first encounter between the two teams. The Quakers, who lost their first three games of the season against No. 9 Florida State, will be looking for their first win.
Freshman pitcher Sebastian Haggard has been recognized as Ivy League Rookie of the Week following his performance against Florida State, where he pitched 2.1 shutout innings without allowing any runs and securing three strikeouts.
On the offensive side, Penn's Ryan Taylor and Gavin Collins have started strong, both maintaining batting averages over .300. Taylor has achieved four hits with three doubles in nine at-bats, while Collins has recorded three hits and scored two runs. Additionally, Gavin Degnan and Davis Baker hit home runs during Penn's opening games.
Penn's pitching staff holds a team ERA of 12.27 after their initial matches; however, they showed improvement on Sunday by preventing Florida State from scoring in the final four innings.
Troy enters the series with an impressive record of 8-1, having only lost narrowly to No. 25 Auburn. The Trojans secured victories over No. 15 Mississippi State and UAB earlier this week. Their lineup includes six hitters with batting averages above .300, led by Sean Darnell and Blake Cavill.
The games on Saturday and Sunday will be available for streaming on ESPN+, while live stats will be provided for all matchups.
