Philadelphia Union has signed forward Edward (Eddy) Davis III to a three-year contract, with options extending through 2029. The 18-year-old striker was a standout player for Union II in the 2024 season, scoring a record-breaking 13 goals and earning the MLS NEXT Pro Rising Star of the Month title three times.
"Eddy took a big step in his growth and development last year, proving himself to be a relentless striker," said Philadelphia Union Sporting Director Ernst Tanner. "His ability to read the game and create scoring opportunities makes him a valuable asset. He has the mentality and passion we look for in young players and is a prime example of the strong talent we continue to foster in our system."
Davis played 27 regular season games with Union II during the 2024 campaign, collecting four assists and playing 1,773 minutes. His performance placed him fourth in league rankings for goals scored and set a new single-season record for Union II. Davis also made history by becoming the first player in club history to earn the MLS NEXT Pro Rising Star accolade three times within one season.
Originally acquired by Philadelphia Union on a free transfer in August 2022, Davis recorded his first career playoff goal during Union II’s appearance at the MLS NEXT Pro Cup Final against North Texas SC on November 9.
