The Philadelphia Flyers have announced a significant trade with the Calgary Flames, acquiring forwards Andrei Kuzmenko and Jakob Pelletier. The deal also includes a second-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft and a seventh-round pick in the 2028 NHL Draft. In exchange, the Flyers will send forwards Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost to Calgary. Andrei Kuzmenko, aged 28, has played parts of three seasons in the NHL with both the Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames. During his time in the league, he has accumulated 65 goals and 70 assists for a total of 135 points over 190 regular season games. His debut season with the Canucks in 2022-23 saw him co-leading the team with 39 goals, topping their power-play goals list with 14, and ranking fourth on the team with 74 points overall. This current season, Kuzmenko has scored four goals and provided eleven assists over 37 games for Calgary.
Before joining the NHL, Kuzmenko spent eight seasons playing in Russia's Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), where he notched up an impressive record of 85 goals and amassed a total of 200 points across 315 regular season games. He also participated in KHL playoff matches, scoring eighteen goals and securing twenty-nine points during these contests.
Jakob Pelletier is another addition to the Flyers' roster at age 23 after spending parts of three seasons playing for Calgary. In his career so far, Pelletier has registered eleven points through four goals and seven assists across twenty-three games this season alone while maintaining a plus-minus rating of +10. Overall, he has achieved twenty-one points throughout fifty-nine regular-season appearances since being drafted by Calgary as their first-round pick (26th overall) back during draft year nineteen.
