Flyers' Samuel Ersson joins Team Sweden for Four Nations Faceoff

The NHL has announced that Flyers goaltender Samuel Ersson will join Team Sweden's roster for the upcoming 2025 Four Nations Faceoff. Ersson is one of four Flyers players participating in the tournament, with Travis Konecny and Travis Sanheim representing Team Canada, and Rasmus Ristolainen playing for Team Finland. Additionally, Flyers Head Coach John Tortorella will serve as an assistant coach for Team USA.

Ersson has previously represented Sweden on four occasions. His most recent appearance was at the 2024 World Championships, where he played in four games and achieved a 3-1-0 record, contributing to Sweden's bronze medal win. In international play overall, Ersson holds a 6-2-0 record.

In the current season, Ersson has started in 27 games with a record of 15-8-2. He recently completed a five-game winning streak, marking his longest such streak in his NHL career. His current statistics include a .893 save percentage and a goals-against average of 2.77.

The Four Nations Faceoff is organized by the NHL and NHLPA as a round-robin tournament featuring national teams from Canada, the United States, Sweden, and Finland. The event is scheduled to take place from February 12 to February 20, replacing this year's annual NHL All-Star Game.
