January 20, 2025, marks the celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life and legacy. Dr. King is honored in the Hall of Heroes at the NovaCare Complex, where a photo of him delivering his "I Have a Dream" speech in 1963 during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom is displayed in the Eagles' training facility lobby.
Several team leaders shared their thoughts on what Dr. King means to them:
Jalen Hurts emphasized creating an inclusive team culture: "We are one and we are all... So we want to encourage people to express themselves, be who they are, and be who God called them to be."
Saquon Barkley highlighted community and togetherness: "Community and togetherness are the two key words that come to mind with Dr. King's vision... No one is bigger than the common goal."
A.J. Brown spoke about leadership through communication: "Dr. King's leadership was rooted in his ability to communicate effectively and inspire action... I want to maximize the most I can get out of my teammates."
Lane Johnson admired Dr. King's non-conformity: "Martin Luther King Jr's leadership style influenced me because he went against the grain... As a leader, I think taking action on what you believe in is the way to lead."
Jake Elliott appreciated Dr. King's unique approach: "He had a vision and did things his way... He swam against the stream."
Brandon Graham found inspiration in integrity and purpose: "Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. inspired me to lead with integrity, purpose, and a focus on uplifting others."
Big Play Slay described fostering inclusivity within the team: "By letting my group break it down, everybody, one by one... It takes us all to be great."
These reflections show how Dr. King's legacy continues to inspire individuals across different fields.
