Philadelphia Union II wins against Atlanta United FC

Philadelphia Union II played against Atlanta United 2 at Subaru Park on Sunday evening, securing a 2-1 victory. In the first half, Atlanta’s Nick Firmino opened the scoring in the 42nd minute. Homegrown midfielder Cavan Sullivan equalized in the 78th minute of the second half. Late in stoppage time, another Homegrown midfielder, CJ Olney, scored to secure the win for Union II and keep them in contention for the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Philadelphia Union II will next face Chicago Fire FC II at SeatGeek Stadium on Sunday, October 6 (1:00 p.m. ET/ Apple TV).

The match took place at Subaru Park (Chester, PA) on Sunday, September 29, 2024. The referee team included Marie Durr as today's match referee, with Justen Lopez and Joseph Knoff as assistant referees and Nickrod Fateh as the fourth official. The weather was reported as 70 degrees and cloudy.

The goals were scored by Nick Firmino for Atlanta United (43’), Cavan Sullivan for Philadelphia Union II (78’), and CJ Olney for Philadelphia Union II (90+5’). Jose Riasco from Philadelphia received a caution in the 70th minute.

Atlanta United 2's lineup featured Jayden Hibbert, Dominik Chong Qui, Kaiden Moore, Efraín Morales, Ramzi Qawasmy, Adyn Torres, Nick Firmino; Javier Armas; Ashton Gordon (Alan Carleton 68’); Rodrigo Neri (Karim Tmimi 68’) and Cooper Sanchez (Matias Gallardo 68’). Substitutes not used were Ethan Dudley; Noble Okello; Jacob Williams; John Berner.

Cavan Sullivan scored his fourth goal of the MLS NEXT Pro season while CJ Olney marked his sixth goal of the season. Forward Eddy Davis recorded his second assist this season.
