Philadelphia Union has confirmed the addition of Frankie Westfield to their roster under a short-term deal. This move ensures that the homegrown player is eligible to participate in today's face-off against Inter Miami CF. As stated by the club, "Saturday's short-term callup is the fifth of this season for Westfield, having starting for the Union against Orlando City SC, FC Cincinnati, New England Revolution and Nashville SC."
According to the 2025 MLS Roster Rules and Regulations, homegrown players not on the primary roster can't participate in league matches unless they are called up short-term. These players can be called up for up to six league season matches each year, and they must be 21 years old or younger to qualify. Furthermore, these players can keep their off-roster status as long as they are under their initial MLS contract.
The club recorded the transaction, stating, "Philadelphia Union sign defender Frankie Westfield to a short-term agreements on March 29, 2025."
Frankie Westfield, a promising defender, stands 5’7” tall and weighs 165 lbs. Born on December 9, 2005, in Pennsylvania, he hails from Philadelphia and holds U.S. citizenship.
