Philadelphia Union Academy is set to relaunch its Union Juniors program, an initiative aimed at fostering young talent in soccer. The program, which will become active again in August 2025, targets players in the U9, U10, U11, and U12 age groups.

“We are incredibly excited to relaunch the Union Juniors program as part of our evolving player pathway,” said Jon Scheer, the Director of Academy and Professional Development. “Union Juniors will provide young players with a unique opportunity to train in a high-level, club-neutral environment while continuing to grow and compete with their respective clubs.”

The relaunched program shifts from a traditional team-based model to a structure where participants can train while remaining part of their local teams. For the 2025/2026 season, it will continue to feature a U12 team, connecting young players to Philadelphia Union.

“Union Juniors will serve as the foundation and bridge to our Academy,” continued Scheer. The goal is "to connect an expanded pool of young players to the Philadelphia Union, while supporting the great work being done by local clubs, to ensure that the future of Philadelphia Union talent thrives right here in our own backyard.”

The program has previously produced notable players, including Quinn Sullivan, Auston Trusty, Brendan Aaronson, Paxten Aaronson, and Mark McKenzie. Sessions will occur at WSFS Bank Sportsplex, with participation options available via ID sessions or through referrals by club directors.

ID sessions will occur in April and May, limited to 50 players per birth year, from 2014 to 2017. These sessions provide a platform for young athletes to showcase their abilities and potentially join the prestigious academy.
