The Philadelphia Flyers have signed defenseman Ty Murchison to a two-year entry-level contract commencing in the 2025-2026 season. General Manager Daniel Briere announced the agreement.
Murchison, 22, was selected by the Flyers in the fifth round of the 2021 NHL Draft. He has taken part in the Flyers Development Camp over the years 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Originally from Corona, California, Murchison has just completed his fourth and final season with Arizona State University (ASU). During his college career, he recorded 24 points in 146 regular-season games, served as assistant captain, and played a pivotal role in leading his team to the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Frozen Faceoff. Unfortunately, the team was eliminated in the first round by Denver.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Murchison set a new record for blocked shots at ASU within a single season, tallying 98, a statistic that also led all skaters in the NCHC.
Before joining ASU, Murchison was part of the U.S. National Team Development Program on the USNTDP Junior squad and played for both the U.S. National Under-17 and Under-18 teams. He developed his early hockey skills with the Los Angeles Jr. Kings program.
