The Philadelphia Eagles are making strategic moves to reshape their roster for the 2025 season. The team is focusing on adding impact players through free agency while maintaining a balance between experience and fresh talent.
Philadelphia has signed over a dozen new players, predominantly on one-year contracts. The rationale behind this strategy was explained by Howie Roseman, the team's Executive Vice President/General Manager. Roseman emphasized the importance of maintaining flexibility while planning for the future. "If you look at our Drafts from 2022 to 2024, we had 8 starters in the Super Bowl from those Drafts and zero of them have long-term contracts," Roseman stated. With 20 picks anticipated in the 2025 and 2026 Drafts, the Eagles must manage roster spots wisely for younger talents. Roseman noted the balancing act between building the best current team and accommodating an eventual transition.
The Eagles have accumulated extensive NFL Draft capital, which they view as a means to sustain a strong roster in coming seasons. "It opens up tremendous opportunity for the success of our football team," Roseman said. Despite losing key talent, the Eagles are committed to replenishing their lineup.
After Super Bowl LIX, Roseman chose a different approach compared to the aftermath of Super Bowl LII in 2018. Back then, the Eagles retained most of their winning roster, hoping for a repeat championship. Reflecting on that experience, Roseman remarked, "Experience helps shape the direction that you go in," acknowledging lessons learned from past years.
The aim is clear: to mount a campaign for a third World Championship. "Hopefully, that's this year, so everything we are doing is hopefully putting us in position to have another parade down Broad Street," Roseman said, expressing determination for future victories. The goal remains to achieve on-field success, with no other ambitions but to win and celebrate at season's end.
