A recent match between the Philadelphia Union and St. Louis CITY SC marked a significant milestone for midfielder Indiana Vassilev. The game, held at the Union's home ground, saw Vassilev making his first start for the team.

Vassilev, who previously played for St. Louis CITY SC, had been utilized as a substitute in three prior matches with the Union. During one of these appearances against the New England Revolution on March 8th, he provided his first assist for the team.

The Union acquired Vassilev from St. Louis CITY SC on February 21st. The deal involved $400,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) for 2025 and $600,000 in GAM for 2026. An additional $250,000 may be paid if certain performance metrics are achieved. Furthermore, St. Louis CITY SC will benefit from a future sell-on and trade percentage.

In 2024, Vassilev set personal records by scoring four goals across all competitions. He also tied for second place in assists with four and was fourth in regular season appearances with 29 games played.
