On Monday afternoon, tight end Harrison Bryant and long snapper Charley Hughlett signed one-year contracts with the Eagles at the NovaCare Complex. This marks a reunion for the two players, who previously played together on the Cleveland Browns.
Charley Hughlett spent ten seasons with the Browns, becoming one of their longest-tenured players with 152 career games. Meanwhile, Harrison Bryant was drafted by the Browns in 2020 and spent four seasons there before joining the Raiders in 2024.
Bryant expressed his admiration for Hughlett: "Obviously, he's (Hughlett) a great leader. All four years I was with him in Cleveland he was a captain. In the locker room, he takes command of everybody, and he's been around the block."
Hughlett will now work alongside kicker Jake Elliott and punter Braden Mann on special teams. He commented on integrating into his new unit: "Just come in and really get to work and start building that chemistry pretty quickly."
Bryant joins a competitive tight end group that includes Dallas Goedert among others. Reflecting on his move to Philadelphia, Bryant said: "I think it's a great opportunity with a great tight end room. Obviously, what's better than signing with the defending Super Bowl Champions?"
As Hughlett enters his eleventh NFL season, he looks forward to working under Special Teams Coordinator Michael Clay: "He seems like a super great guy... It doesn't seem too terribly different from what I'm used to, so I'm excited to get to work with him."
Both players are eager to contribute to their new team as they embark on this latest chapter of their careers.
