The Philadelphia Eagles' linebacker unit was a significant factor in the team's success during the 2024 season, culminating in a Super Bowl victory. Under the guidance of Linebackers Coach Bobby King, the group showed marked improvement, with players like Zack Baun and Nakobe Dean playing pivotal roles.

Zack Baun's transition from a role player with the New Orleans Saints to an off-ball linebacker in Philadelphia was noteworthy. His performance earned him first-team All-Pro honors and a Pro Bowl selection. Baun also became a finalist for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award. His contributions were recognized with a new three-year contract ahead of free agency.

Nakobe Dean had an impressive season until he sustained a torn patellar tendon during the Wild Card Playoff against Green Bay. Oren Burks filled in for Dean during the postseason and delivered strong performances alongside Baun.

Jeremiah Trotter Jr., in his rookie year, saw limited action but continued to develop. Ben VanSumeren excelled on special teams before suffering a torn ACL late in the season, while Dallas Gant spent time on the practice squad aiming to elevate his status in 2025.

As free agency approaches, Burks is set to re-enter the market after signing a one-year deal last spring and making notable contributions when called upon.

Coach Bobby King praised Baun's versatility and work ethic: "I don't think you can put it on any one thing that he's improved on; he just had a chance, had an opportunity to show himself, and he's done that."

Baun's regular-season statistics included 150 total tackles, five forced fumbles, four passes defensed, 3.5 quarterback sacks, one interception, and one fumble recovery.

Looking forward, much will depend on how Dean and VanSumeren recover from their injuries as they prepare for another competitive season.
