After a weekend series against Delaware, the University of Pennsylvania baseball team is set to host Rutgers at Tommy Lasorda Field at Meiklejohn Stadium on Tuesday. The game will begin at 3 p.m.

Penn's recent match with Delaware was interrupted due to darkness, leading to the conclusion of the game being moved to Bob Hannah Stadium in Newark on Saturday. The Quakers secured their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Delaware, breaking a seven-game losing streak.

"The Quakers played their home opener on Friday with the Blue Hens," but had to finish it in Newark due to fading light conditions. Nick Spaventa and Sebastian Haggard contributed significantly, with Spaventa driving in an RBI single and Haggard striking out seven batters over 4.1 innings without allowing any earned runs.

Ernie Echevarria hit a crucial double that gave Penn a lead they maintained for the rest of the game. Marty Coyne and Thomas Shurtleff provided solid relief pitching, helping secure the win.

The matchup between Penn and Rutgers dates back to 1882, with Penn holding an advantage in historical encounters. However, "the teams have met just one time (2022) since 1984," where Rutgers emerged victorious.

At present, four Penn hitters are batting above .300 this season: Asa Wilson (.357), Ryan Taylor (.333), Qwynn Ahearn (.333), and Gavin Collins (.324). Collins leads in hits and is tied for RBIs with Davis Baker.

On Tuesday, Josh Katz is expected to start for Penn despite having struggled early this season. He aims for improvement against a Rutgers team that has shown mixed results so far this year.

Rutgers recently opened Big Ten conference play by losing two out of three games against Iowa but boasts notable performances from players like Trevor Cohen and JD Jones who are hitting above .300. Quinn Berglin leads their pitching staff with an impressive ERA of 0.87 across several appearances.

Tuesday's game will be available live on ESPN+ featuring Cory Nidoh as commentator. Fans can also follow live stats online or keep up through social media channels dedicated to Penn baseball activities.
