The University of Pennsylvania baseball team faced a challenging game against Florida State University, resulting in a 9-3 defeat at Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium. This game marked the Quakers' second loss of the season, leaving them with a record of 0-2, while the Seminoles maintained their undefeated streak, improving to 6-0.

In this matchup, several Penn players contributed notable performances. Connor Chavez led the team offensively with two hits out of four attempts. Gavin Degnan and Davis Baker each hit home runs, marking the first for the Quakers this season. Ryan Taylor also showed consistency by going 1-for-2 with his third double of the year and three walks. Over the first two games, Taylor is batting .600 and slugging 1.200.

Marty Coyne started on the mound for Penn but was charged with the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) on five hits over 3.2 innings. Noah Millikan provided relief pitching for 3.2 innings but gave up two earned runs late in his appearance.

Florida State quickly took control of the game with a two-run homer in the first inning and continued to build their lead throughout. The Quakers managed to score through an RBI single by O'Brien and solo homers from Degnan and Baker but could not overcome FSU's offensive power.

The game saw moments where Penn had opportunities to challenge Florida State's lead, including loading bases twice; however, they were unable to capitalize on these chances fully.

Penn will attempt to avoid a series sweep as they face Florida State again in their next game scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
