The Philadelphia Eagles, while still engaged in the 2024 postseason, have made moves to bolster their future roster. On Tuesday, the team signed tight end Cameron Latu to a Reserve/Future contract and released wide receiver Elijah Cooks from the practice squad.
Cameron Latu, a former third-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers in 2023, joins the Eagles after spending most of the 2024 season on the Cleveland Browns' practice squad. The 24-year-old Alabama alumnus stands at 6-5 and weighs 244 pounds. Initially an outside linebacker at Alabama, Latu transitioned to offense and set a school record with eight receiving touchdowns in a single season in 2021.
Elijah Cooks was added to the Eagles' practice squad last Tuesday but has now been released. The 26-year-old receiver from San Jose State measures 6-4 and weighs 215 pounds. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars following the 2023 NFL Draft. In his rookie year, Cooks played nine games and made three receptions for a total of 38 yards. This season he appeared in two games for Jacksonville.
During his college career, Cooks was recognized as a First-Team All-Mountain West selection in 2022 after achieving personal bests with ten touchdowns and accumulating 1,076 receiving yards over twelve games. He began his collegiate journey at Nevada before transferring to San Jose State.
