Philadelphia Flyers prepare for annual pride game supporting LGBTQ+ community

The Philadelphia Flyers are set to host their annual Pride Game, celebrating and supporting the LGBTQ+ community. The event will take place tomorrow evening when the Flyers face off against the Detroit Red Wings at 7:00 P.M. During this game, the organization will honor local LGBTQ+ groups and individuals and welcome guests through the Community Ticket Grant program and the Pride initiative led by Flyers forwards Scott Laughton and Joel Farabee.

The Wells Fargo Center will be adorned with pride-themed arena LEDs, decor, and rainbow hues. Fans attending the game can purchase Flyers Pride merchandise such as t-shirts, hoodies, and hats. Additionally, Flyers staff members have been encouraged to show their support by wearing Pride shirts and pins.

Before the game, a pregame Pride Fest will be held featuring local LGBTQ+ vendors, artists, and community groups. This event aims to highlight and promote these businesses while offering fans a chance to shop for unique handmade items. The fest will include activities like a specialty cocktail bar, bracelet-making station, glitter station, photobooth, among others. It is scheduled from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at South Food Hall located at section 106.

In further support of the local LGBTQ+ community, Flyers Charities has announced a $10,000 donation to Mazzoni Center for its cancer awareness and prevention program. Starting at noon on Tuesday, January 21st, an online auction hosted by Flyers Charities will feature autographed sticks, player memorabilia, and additional pride items.

Scott Laughton expressed his commitment as a You Can Play ambassador alongside teammate Joel Farabee in continuing to support Philadelphia’s LGBTQ+ community through the Flyers Pride initiative. They aim to emphasize inclusivity in hockey by hosting guests from Hi-Tops during games with special postgame meet-and-greet sessions. So far this season they have hosted over 50 guests from local LGBTQ+ communities.

Through their Community Ticket Grant program for this year’s Pride Game event; complimentary tickets are being provided by them specifically towards organizations like Mazzoni Center Philly School District GSA Hi-Tops Bebashi Galaei ensuring wide participation within different sectors representing these causes respectively ensuring maximum outreach possible given current circumstances prevailing around us today!
