Billy Wagner has achieved a significant milestone in his baseball career by being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2025. Wagner, a left-handed relief pitcher, made it to Cooperstown after ten years on the ballot. He started with only 10.5% of votes in his debut year in 2016 but reached the required 75% threshold this year, marking one of the most notable ascensions in voting history.

The ceremony this summer will also honor first-ballot inductees Ichiro Suzuki and CC Sabathia. Unlike them, Wagner's journey to induction was gradual, reflecting a significant increase from his initial vote percentage.

"Billy Wagner...was in his 10th and final year on the ballot," reads part of the announcement highlighting his perseverance over a decade.

Andruw Jones is another player making strides toward potential induction. He received 66.2% of votes this year and has two more years to reach the necessary percentage for enshrinement.

The trend of players with low debut percentages eventually making it into the Hall continues. Scott Rolen had a similar trajectory, starting at 10.2% in 2018 and achieving induction by 2023. Other players who followed this path include Todd Helton, Duke Snider, Bert Blyleven, Mike Mussina, Larry Walker, and Don Drysdale.

These examples underscore that an initial low voting percentage does not preclude eventual election into baseball's prestigious Hall of Fame.
