The Eagles are preparing for a significant challenge as they face Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels, who has guided the Commanders to their first NFC Championship Game since 1991. Eagles Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio commended Daniels, highlighting his impressive performance in leading Washington to a comeback victory over the Eagles in Week 16.

"He's a young quarterback by birth certificate, not by the tape," Fangio stated. He emphasized Daniels' maturity and skill, noting that he is playing at an exceptional level for a rookie. "The guy is playing extremely well. You can tell how much they think he's playing so good by the volume of their offense and the things they trust him to do."

Daniels will lead the Commanders into Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday with strong support from his team, including wide receiver Terry McLaurin, tight end Zach Ertz, running backs Austin Ekeler and Brian Robinson Jr., and a solid offensive line. His ability to run adds another layer of complexity for opposing defenses; he recorded 81 rushing yards on nine carries during their last encounter with Philadelphia.

Fangio acknowledged this aspect of Daniels' game: "He has the added dimension of the gun-run game (running out of shotgun formation). He can have designed runs for the quarterback or he can pull it and keep it."

In contrast, Kellen Moore's offense aims to capitalize on its own strengths with quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley leading Philadelphia's attack. Moore highlighted Hurts' decision-making abilities within their dynamic offense: "Certainly the combination of Saquon and Jalen in the backfield is really, really powerful."

Moore also praised Washington's defense under head coach Dan Quinn and defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr., recognizing their cohesive strategy: "They're really well coached...They play fast. They play physical. They play confident."

Special Teams Coordinator Michael Clay addressed improvements needed against Washington's special teams after Luke McCaffrey's notable kickoff returns in their previous matchup. Jake Elliott has since taken over kickoffs for Philadelphia.

"I have so much trust in Jake and the kickoff unit," Clay remarked while acknowledging Washington's challenges: "Everything is on top of mind...We gotta make sure we protect." He emphasized discipline as crucial during playoff games.
