Defenseman Travis Sanheim recently discussed his current season and personal development with host Jason Myrtetus on Flyers Daily. Sanheim, a key player for the Philadelphia Flyers, has been building on a successful 2023-24 season. He has played in all 45 games this season, recording 23 points and maintaining an average of 24:38 time on ice per game, ranking him tenth overall in the NHL.
Sanheim addressed past trade rumors, saying, "I've never been traded in my career... I just chose that I love this organization. I love being in Philly." He emphasized his commitment to proving his value to the team and its fanbase.
Despite his progress, Sanheim remains focused on further improvement. He expressed excitement about representing Team Canada in the upcoming 4Nations Face-Off tournament. "Honestly, I wanted to take a huge step... I'm not satisfied," he said.
Sanheim aims to help the Flyers return to playoff contention by maintaining focus and consistency. "We’re not really listening to the outside noise," he stated, emphasizing the importance of winning games against top teams.
As a role model for younger players, Sanheim is dedicated to refining various aspects of his game through practice. "There are so many little areas that I think a lot of people don't necessarily see when watching the full picture of the game," he explained.
He shared insights into how he improved specific skills like one-timers: "I watched a lot of tape on other guys... It's such a process; it doesn't just happen."
Sanheim's dedication reflects his determination to contribute both individually and as part of a team striving for success.
