In commemoration of what would have been Ed Snider's 92nd birthday, the Philadelphia Flyers will host the Ed Snider Legacy Game on January 9. The game against the Dallas Stars will honor the late founder and owner’s legacy and highlight the contributions of Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education (SNIDER) to the Philadelphia community.

The event will feature various celebrations and initiatives throughout the evening. SNIDER student-athletes, along with members of the Snider family, will participate in unique experiences such as observing warmups from the Flyers bench, riding the Zamboni, and engaging in Mites on Ice activities. Additionally, student-athletes will shadow Flyers employees to gain insight into different roles within the organization.

A ceremonial puck drop is scheduled to include Flyers Alumni Wayne Simmonds, Kimmo Timonen, and Paul Holmgren alongside trustees of SNIDER. A video tribute honoring Ed Snider's life and legacy will be presented, with fans encouraged to arrive early for this part of the celebration.

Attendees of the game will receive an Ed Snider commemorative patch as a memento. In support of SNIDER’s mission, Flyers Charities will present a $300,000 donation before the game for upgrades to four City Ice Rinks utilized by SNIDER programs. This contribution will be matched 2:1 by SNIDER's Support Organization, bringing total funding to $900,000.

An auction featuring autographed jerseys worn by players during the Legacy Game will take place online from January 9 through January 14 at FlyersCharities.com. Proceeds from this auction are intended to further benefit SNIDER and its facilities.
