The recent Farm Report highlighted standout performances by three defensemen in their respective leagues. Oliver Bonk of the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League was named the first star. Bonk played a crucial role in extending the Knights' winning streak to 15 games, scoring a tying goal with less than a minute left in regulation during a game against Owen Sound Attack. Despite missing a shootout attempt, his performance helped secure a 2-1 victory over Ottawa. Bonk has accumulated five goals and 12 assists across 19 games this season.
Hunter McDonald from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League earned the second star designation. Although the Phantoms are experiencing a winless stretch, McDonald's physical play has been noteworthy. He leads his team with a plus-nine rating and has collected seven points so far this season.
Ethan Samson, also from the Phantoms, received recognition as the third star for his offensive contributions. Samson scored on the power play during Saturday's match against Providence and aims to improve his current minus-11 rating as he continues through the season.
Updates were also provided for last week's featured players: Denver Barkey was sidelined but has recorded 22 points in 18 games for London Knights; Noah Powell's Ohio State team had no games this past week; and Alex Bump's Western Michigan team maintained its strong record without him adding to his personal point total.
