The Philadelphia Eagles have commenced their voluntary offseason program at the NovaCare Complex, setting a tone of high expectations under the guidance of Head Coach Nick Sirianni. With an emphasis on culture, Sirianni aims to build on the team's successful postseason appearances over the past three seasons.
Sirianni emphasized the importance of consistently reinforcing team culture: "Your culture has to be reintroduced, redefined, and redemanded each and every offseason and it can't just be something that you do one time. It has to be a habit, the way you live," he stated at the NFL Annual Meeting. The coach looks forward to integrating new players into this established framework as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Phase 1 of the program spans two weeks and focuses on strength and conditioning activities. This phase is entirely voluntary, with specific guidelines in place. Players are limited to 90 minutes on-field work daily and have additional time for weight workouts. Activities such as quarterbacks throwing without coverage and placekickers practicing kicks are permitted during this period.
The Eagles continue to bolster their roster in anticipation of the 2024 NFL Draft on April 25, where they hold eight picks including three among the top 53 selections. The offseason presents an opportunity for players and coaches alike to regroup following last year's disappointing conclusion.
With new talent joining seasoned coordinators Kellen Moore (offense) and Vic Fangio (defense), expectations remain high. Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie expressed these aspirations by stating that they aim for "a championship-caliber team."
As preparations unfold at NovaCare Complex, Sirianni reiterated his excitement about starting anew: "We're 0-0 and we're starting the building process," he said. The team's focus remains on hard work coupled with enjoyment as they lay groundwork for future success.
