Brandon Graham, a prominent figure in Philadelphia sports, is set to receive the inaugural Most Valuable Philadelphian Award. This accolade will be presented by the Philadelphia Visitor Center at the Philly Opener event on Monday night. The occasion marks the start of the tourism season and aims to highlight key experiences available this summer.
Graham expressed his gratitude for the recognition: "It is an honor to be recognized by the Philadelphia Visitor Center as the inaugural recipient of its Most Valuable Philadelphian Award." Reflecting on his time in Philadelphia since being drafted by the Eagles in 2010, he added, "Philadelphia has been my home. I'm very fortunate to have experienced some of the best moments of my life here."
Recently, both Graham and his wife Carlyne were awarded honorary degrees from Saint Joseph's University for their community efforts through their foundation Team Graham. These initiatives extend beyond Philadelphia to their hometown of Detroit.
In 2022, Graham was also acknowledged as a nominee for the prestigious Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award by Nationwide due to his significant community impact. Jeffrey Lurie, Chairman and CEO of the Eagles, remarked on Graham's contributions: "Throughout his career, Brandon has exemplified everything it means to be a Philadelphia Eagle."
One memorable moment in Graham's career was during Super Bowl LII when he strip-sacked Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. This play helped secure a victory for the Eagles and brought them their first Lombardi Trophy.
As he approaches what will likely be his final NFL season, Graham reflects on his journey with a sense of urgency: "I wish the days could slow down. I am cherishing every moment." His focus remains on inspiring teammates and making lasting contributions both on and off the field.
