On Saturday, Trevor Keegan, a guard and the team's fifth-round pick (172nd overall) from Michigan, signed his four-year rookie contract. Keegan was the top high school recruit in Illinois as a senior. His mother, Amanda, grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
"I think Michigan alone sets itself apart from everyone else. Especially with (former Michigan head) Coach (Jim) Harbaugh there," said Keegan. "We had an NFL-type schedule. It was a business. When you're there at Michigan you get the coaching, you get the training. It's a first-class program that we had."
Keegan emphasized the preparation he received at Michigan: "Our coaches did a great job preparing us. I feel like our scheme is an NFL scheme and it made my job very easy learning installs on these Zooms and things like that."
He expressed excitement about joining the NFL: "Really excited for this opportunity and I know these guys are all freaks in the NFL and continue to work my butt off. I'm just really excited for this opportunity."
The Eagles' personnel staff identified Keegan as one of their "red star" players during the pre-draft process. Alan Wolking, Director of Player Personnel, praised him: "He's smart and TOUGH. He's more of the mauler type... So, a lot of the play style elements of his game are things we like here."
Wolking added that fans will appreciate Keegan's alignment with their play style: "'We're going to stay in here and we're going to fight until the whistle and it's going to be like that for every rep.' He'll fit in."
Keegan served as a senior captain on Michigan's 2023 National Championship team and was part of an offensive line recognized with back-to-back Joe Moore Awards as college football's top line in 2021-22.
During his introductory video conference call after being drafted, Keegan wore a DeSean Jackson jersey.
Throughout his college career, Keegan was penalized only six times over more than 2,200 snaps and allowed just three sacks across 44 games—none during 2023.
