The University of Pennsylvania baseball team is set to face Princeton in a crucial three-game series this weekend. Both teams are currently tied for third place in the Ivy League standings with a record of 6-6. The series will begin with a doubleheader on Saturday at Clarke Field, followed by a single game on Sunday.
Penn enters the series after losing three consecutive games and seven of its last ten. Despite these setbacks, the team remains in contention for a spot in the Ivy League Tournament, sharing their position with Princeton and Yale.
In their most recent outing, Penn lost 8-3 to Saint Joseph's. Wyatt Henseler contributed two hits and an RBI during that game. Henseler is also approaching significant milestones; he needs just one more hit to tie and two to surpass Dan Williams as Penn's all-time hits leader.
Henseler leads the Quakers in several offensive categories, including batting average (.347) and home runs (15). Other notable players include Nick Spaventa and Ryan Taylor, who have maintained hitting streaks of 11 and 12 games respectively.
On the pitching side, Eli Trop has not allowed an earned run in Ivy League play this season. Carson Ozmer leads with four saves while Cole Zaffiro secured his fourth win against Cornell last Saturday.
Princeton comes into the series following losses to Rider and Harvard but has recorded victories over Cornell and Brown earlier this season. Jake Bold and Jake Koonin lead Princeton offensively, while Jacob Faulkner holds a team-best ERA of 3.86.
Historically, Princeton leads the all-time series against Penn; however, Penn has dominated recent matchups, winning eight of the last ten meetings. Last year, they won three out of four games against Princeton.
All games this weekend will be available for viewing on ESPN+ with live stats provided online.
